Self-Worth

You can truly get lost in other things that surround your life instead of getting lost in self-discovery. It’s baffling how we pay so much more attention to other things either that someone else is going through or taking care of others that we forget to care for us. Some people call it selfish to put yourself first, in fact I didn’t realize the importance of self-preservation until I had to self-persevere in a way I never knew I would. I thought I could focus mostly on others, because that made me happy and thus maybe that was my calling in life. WRONG, totally wrong!

Taking time for you, working on yourself through therapy, a night with the guys or girls, taking a nap, watching a show or going to work out is so very important. Loving you is not selfish, in fact it’s the strongest thing you can do, because it proves you value your worth and what you can bring to the table. It proves that when you give another person advice you really mean what you’re saying. That’s because your words are from a place that understands yourself since you’ve taken the time to do the work. You care enough to speak from your own truths versus some BS you read in a book and spewed because it sounded cool. You can listen openly and without judgment. You can be the best friend or family member you can, because you love you enough to know when to let go of other things and refocus on your core.

Above all else, be your own best friend and that will translate in an all-around better version of who you are or who you could be.
