“I wonder how much of what weighs me down is not mine to carry.”– Anonymous
Stop and think about what this quote means for a minute. I used to unknowingly carry so much strife of others that I gave myself anxiety. Maybe that’s drastic, but until I stopped and thought about what this meant I didn’t even realize the weight of others was affecting my life. It’s one thing to be a friend and digest their problems and let them become yours. It’s another to learn to be a friend that cares, but let’s go for your own balance. Don’t let others issues manifest thoughts in your mind that provoke changes in your relationships, the way you feel or act. Lend the ear your person needs, give advice if asked and be open minded to their thoughts, but then walk away knowing you did your part. Reach out if you feel you should or trust your words and ear were enough. We all must deal with daily struggles and those need to be met with a clear mind, so we can survive and ultimately be there for others. Do not carry what is not meant to be yours, it’s unnecessary.
